Follow-up:
Used search to find my repeater station. Tried connecting and the repeater thinks I'm connected but within a few seconds my connection is lost. PTT never enabled.

This problem is similar to one in EchoLink: connection is made on server side but not on client side.

Did you submit the crash report to Apple?

It wasn't the MacOS that crashed, so no.
Is there something in the crash report that says Apple is causing the EchoHam crash? (I didn't see anything but not a coder.)

The crash report gets stored on Apple's server and the developer will see the crash report and get an idea how may crashes of this type occur. If there are lots of crashes of the same type the developer will address these issues.
Please send ALL crash reports to Apple.

Is this the appropriate procedure for all the software crashes on Mac? I didn't know about this.

Yes, it is the best way to get crash information to the developer.
When developers look at the crash info collected by Apple we can easily see how many crashes are occurring and the details on which part of the application is crashing.
Many crashes in the the same area of code will point out weakness in my code and allow me to fix it.
